Objective
Evaluate the performance of Creusabro® 8000 as a replacement for 450 HB wear steel in jaw crusher side plates, with the goal of improving wear life efficiency (T/mm), reducing maintenance, and maximizing the use of steel volume under severe crushing conditions.
Test Conditions
- Location: Primary crushing site in Sweden 
- Environment: High-impact and abrasive wear during the continuous crushing of large stone blocks (171,882 tonnes processed), placing significant stress on the jaw crusher’s side plates. 
- Function: Side wear plates in a primary jaw crusher, responsible for protecting structural components from direct rock impact and friction. 
- Original material: 450 HB, 40 mm thickness 
- Replacement material: Creusabro® 8000, 40 mm thickness, processed by flame cutting and machining 
Results
- The 450 HB plates delivered a wear efficiency of 4,297 tonnes per mm of plate thickness.
